Growing cultural ties between Italy and Kenya – seven kenyan students awarded scholarship in italy to attend master in geomatics and irrigation

The Italian government grants scholarships to 7 Kenyan students selected to attend the ”Istituto Agronomico per l’Oltremare” which is the consultancy and technical assistance Institute in the field of agricultural science and technology part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

7 Kenyan students have been awarded full scholarship and will be joining students from several African countries to attend Masters in Geomatics and Irrigation at the “Istituto Agronomico per l’Oltremare” (IAO) in Florence.
The IAO Istitute (IAO) is a technical-scientific branch of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs whose mission is to promote the fight against world poverty and hunger. The Institute is deeply involved in Development Cooperation initiatives on integrated rural development, environmental and natural resources management, fight against desertification and food security.
The recipients of the scholarship currently hold positions in the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Land, the University, the public sector and Kenya Wildlife Service.
The scholarship will cover tuition and board for the duration of the Academic Year.

The scholarships are designed to foster deeper relations between Italy and Kenya, and to encourage Kenyan students to pursue University education in the field of agriculture and to develop knowledge of Italian culture and language. The goal of the scholarships program is also to encourage greater awareness on the value of a career in the large field of agriculture and to assist students in acquiring skills and credentials needed for success in that sector.
