DECREE OF THE MINISTER OF HEALTH OF 22 FEBRUARY ON TRAVEL FROM AND TO ABROAD

The Italian Ministry of Health has issued on the 22nd of February 2022 a decree (see attached text) containing new provisions concerning the requirements for travelling to Italy from abroad, amending the previous regulations. This will enter in force from the 1st of March until the 31st of March 31 2022. The entry rules in Italy (from EU/Schengen countries and the rest of the world) are going to be the same.

Entry into Italy is allowed:

1. If no COVID-19 symptoms are present by producing both:

a. the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) in digital or hard paper

b. the Covid-19 certification (vaccination certificate, recovery certificate or negative molecular or antigen test) or other vaccination certification recognized as equivalent

2. Failure to submit one of the above certifications will result in a 5-day quarantine and the traveller will be required to take a molecular or antigen test at the end of this period (children under 6 years of age are exempt from testing).

The exceptions for specific categories of travellers are detailed in art. 2 of the decree (crew members, travellers transiting in the Italian territory by private means for no more than 36 hours).
