‘Think Magic, Be U! Stories of women linking Italy and Kenya’

The Embassy of Italy and the Italian Institute for Culture in Nairobi have launched the digital campaign “Think Magic, Be U! Stories of women linking Italy and Kenya’’ to promote women empowerment through a series of success stories linking the two Countries.

The aim of this campaign is to inspire girls and the new generation, with the belief that dreams can come true with motivation and commitment, especially when there is a belief that belonging to a certain gender does not limit inspiration.

During the month of March, four stories of Kenyan women are posted on our social media (@ItalyInKenya and @iicnairobi). These women will share their experiences and successes in non-traditional sectors through motivational videos. They will also talk about how their experience in Italy, or connection to Italy, had an impact on what they are today.

Get inspired by the story of the protagonists:

  • Sophia Njeri Murage: an expert in the field of geospatial sciences who found an incentive in her career thanks to a master’s degree in “Space Mission and Design Management” from La Sapienza University of Rome;
  • Careen Asamba: a Kenyan entrepreneur in the field of agri-food processing who participated in the accelerator program organized by the start-up incubator E4Impact, a project supported by the Italian cooperation;
  • Ruth Arusei: a young student who obtained a scholarship offered by the Italian government thanks to which she was able to obtain a Master’s degree in “Biotechnology for food sciences” by University of Padua;
  • Eunice Jepkoech Sum: athlete and World Champion of the 800 meters in 2013; her coach is Italian.
