Since launching in June 2025, the AI Hub for Sustainable Development has been catalysing measurable AI results through re-imagined partnerships.
Convened on the heels of the Nairobi AI Forum and the AI Impact Summit in Delhi, the “Shaping AI Futures Across Africa and Europe” ecosystem event in Turin, on the 12th of March 2026, is advancing the AI Hub’s momentum, serving as a high-level, matchmaking platform for African AI innovators, Italian and European companies, as well as research and innovation hubs.
Global AI development is accelerating and the opportunities for cross‑continental collaboration are ripe. African and Italian partners are moving from co-design to operational scale, coalescing around a shared vision where AI’s true value is measured by its impact on people, planet, and progress.
Turin represents a strategic European landing point for Africa–Europe AI cooperation. As European Capital of Innovation 2025, the city offers a strong industrial base, advanced research and applied innovation platforms, and structured soft-landing and matchmaking mechanisms through the Torino Talent Gateway. The event is hosted at the International Training Centre of the ILO (ITCILO) on the United Nations Campus — a trusted multilateral space for African and European partners to convene and foster dialogue, matchmaking, and practical collaboration on AI for sustainable development.
Momentum alone is not enough – we need bold, re-imagined partnerships. This is a dynamic ecosystem engagement, designed for curating startup pitches, B2B matchmaking, thematic working tables, and structured follow-ups for fostering partnerships, inspiring pilots, and advancing deployment pathways.
Results-driven coordination is needed to unlock Africa-Europe AI opportunities. Fragmented efforts must give way to a coordinated, win–win ecosystem that aligns governments, energy providers, critical-minerals value chains, connectivity actors, and compute and micro–data centre companies around a shared objective.
