The Italian Ambassador to Kenya, Vincenzo Del Monaco, met at his residence in Nairobi with a large delegation of CEOs from leading Kenyan companies. This was the first meeting of its kind, aimed at presenting to Kenyan companies—which collectively generate approximately 15 billion euros in revenue—the tools and opportunities offered by the “Sistema Italia” in Kenya, in line with the Mattei Plan for Africa. In addition to collaboration with the embassy, the Kenyan business community was able to evaluate the options provided by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), the newly established Italian-Kenyan Chamber of Commerce, and, above all, SACE.
The Ambassador Del Monaco outlined SACE’s support in terms of building investor confidence, matchmaking activities between Kenyan and Italian companies (not only exporters but also, for example, Italian companies looking to invest in Kenya), and financing. The CEOs in attendance showed particular interest in the Italian technology sector and machinery—much of which is already in use by many companies. For the Italian Embassy, the meeting also served as an additional opportunity to discuss the key needs of local companies in order to refine the tools designed to support them.
