In the presence of the President of Kenya, William Ruto, with the participation of Italy’s Ambassador Designate, Vincenzo Del Monaco, and Deputy Head of Mission, Lorenza Gambacorta, the first phase of the project for the realization of Kenya’s first smart city, in Konza, on the outskirts of Nairobi, concluded yesterday.

The Italian company ICM has delivered the horizontal infrastructures, including a state-of-the-art waste management system.

Konza, at the heart of the “Silicon Savannah” project, is destined to become Kenya’s first highly technological and eco-sustainable city, integrating an urban fabric that includes accommodation facilities, universities, laboratories, corporate headquarters, and production hubs.

“We thank our development partners for having collaborated in the creation of the African Silicon Savannah,” said Ruto, mentioning the role of Italy and the Mattei Plan for Africa in accompanying Kenya towards a sustainable digital transition.
