FAQ – Declaration of Value

1. What is a “Declaration of Value” (DV)? What is it for?

The Dichiarazione di Valore is a document of an informative nature that describes the foreign qualification obtained and provides any useful element to allow, to the competent Italian Authorities, an evaluation of the qualification itself for the purpose of its recognition in the Italian system in accordance with current regulations. The Dichiarazione di Valore does not imply any recognition, equivalence or homologation of the degree to which it refers.

2. How can I contact you?

You can contact us by email at this address: nairobi.studio@esteri.it .

3. Where can I find a list of all the documents needed to apply for a DV?

The list of necessary documents related to educational, academic, or professional qualifications to be submitted to apply for a Declaration of Value in Loco can be found on our online page at the following link: Request for Declaration of Value for Study Purposes – Embassy of Italy Nairobi (esteri.it)

4. How can I obtain an equivalence/equivalence of my degree?

The equivalence of foreign degrees to similar Italian degrees is the sole responsibility of the relevant Italian Authorities (Ministry of Education, Ministry of University and Research (MUR), Provincial School Offices, Universities, etc.): in fact, only these have the authority to declare the equivalence (called equivalence) of foreign degrees to similar Italian degrees. The procedure for the recognition in Italy of Kenyan degrees, both for the pursuit of studies (school/University) and for work purposes, requires the territorially competent Embassy/Consulate General of Italy to issue a “declaration of value in loco.” The Consulate’s “task” is therefore only to produce, for those who request it, the Dichiarazione di Valore in Loco, a document necessary to apply for equivalency to the competent Italian Administration.
