On 2 June, the Embassy of Italy in Nairobi celebrated Italy’s Republic Day at the Ambassador’s Residence, in the presence of Kenyan authorities, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the business, cultural and academic communities, and members of the Italian community in Kenya.
To mark the occasion, the Residence hosted a large-scale immersive installation inspired by Jute Portraits, a project by Italian artist Franz Cerami. Through large-format video projections and a selection of images and materials from the artwork, guests were invited to experience a visual journey portraying the faces and stories of Kenyan communities involved in the coffee value chain, which lies at the heart of the artistic project developed in collaboration with Italian and Kenyan partners.
The event provided an important opportunity to reaffirm the ties of friendship and cooperation between Italy and Kenya, reflecting the values of inclusion, innovation and the promotion of people that underpin Italy’s engagement in Kenya.
