Al fine di agevolare le pratiche di accreditamento dei giornalisti in Kenia, si ricordano qui di seguito le procedure in vigore cosi come definite dal competente “Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya”:
- It is a legal requirement for them to seek accreditation from the Media Council of Kenya. Pursuant to Section 6(h), of the Media Council Act. the Council is mandated to accredit journalists and foreign journalists and maintain a register of journalists, media enterprises and such other related registers as it may deem fit. Section 46 ofthe Act states: “The Council shall consider and approve applications by foreign journalists for accreditation to pradice in Kenya and may charge such fees as the Cabinet Secretary in consultation with the council. may by notice in the Gazette prescribe.”
- The press credentials serve as an important identification tool. distinguishing accredited journalists from other individuals. To ensure the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct. it is essential that ali foreign journalists operating in Kenya possess valid press cards issued by the Media Council of Kenya.
- Foreign journalists seeking to operate within Kenya should apply for accreditation through the Media Council of Kenya portal .
- Media enterprises and non-governmental organizations working with foreign journalists bear the responsibility of ensuring they obtain valid press cards.
